OviTex Reinforced Tissue Matrix are a natural hernia repair solution, designed to reduce stretch compared to biologics and long-term complications experienced with resorbable and permanent synthetics.

 

OviTex products are comprised of ~94% biologic material and ~6% polymer. The patient remodels the biologic into a functional collagen layer. The polymer holds the biologic layers together and provides additional strength in the early healing phase.

 

OviTex Resorbable: the PGA polymer resorbs 30 to 60 days after implantation, then rendering into a pure biologic

OviTex Permanent: the polypropylene polymer remains in-place to provide appropriate strength for those patients who generate inferior quality collagen

 

Each configuration is available with either permanent (polypropylene) polymer or resorbable (polyglycolic acid) polymer reinforcing the same biologic material.

  • Lockstitch embroidery pattern creates a ripstop effect and prevents unraveling when cut
  • Unique permeable design facilitates rapid fluid transfer and movement of cells through the device

 

The biological material, obtained from the gizzard of a sheep, is optimized to reduce reaction to foreign material, minimize inflammation and remodel functional tissue. The interwoven polymer assists in obtaining long term strength as well as improved handling and the ability to distribute forces.

 

The amount of polymer in the OviTex products is less than with commonly used synthetic meshes, which means 83% less foreign material.

 

The addition of polymer to the fabric results in an extra strength of at least ~ 25% and an optimal distribution of forces.
